The Event Management Course for Transition Year students at Thomond Community College offers an exciting opportunity to explore the world of event planning on a local, national, and global scale. Students will engage with the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) to learn about degree programmes and career pathways in event management. Throughout the course, they will gain hands-on experience by hosting and working at a variety of school events, including serving tea and coffee on parents' mornings, organising Christmas dinner for 6th Years, hosting wellbeing events for 1st Years, working front-of-house at the school show, supporting a transition event for incoming 1st Years, assisting at sports day, and much more.
By participating in these activities, students will develop valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, organisation, problem-solving, leadership, customer service, and adaptability. They will also build confidence in handling real-world responsibilities and gain insight into the level of planning and coordination required to execute successful events. This course provides an excellent foundation for students considering future studies or careers in event management, hospitality, tourism, business, and related fields.
