Four years ago, the Biopharmaceutical company Regeneron partnered with Thomond Community College with the formation of the Regeneron STEM Academy Programme.
This after school programme gives students a great opportunity to carry out many interesting experiments that align with the Junior Cycle Science curriculum, re-enforcing what they have learned in the classroom.
They also get to meet with Regeneron volunteers who give them a great insight into STEM focused career pathways. Part of the programme also involves laboratory visits to UL, TUS and the Regeneron site itself. On completion of this programme students receive a certificate which they can add to their JC profile of achievement.
