I am delighted to have been entrusted with the privilege of leading the development of Thomond Community College. I am excited to work with colleagues, students, parents, and the community in further developing a school that will be innovative and collaborative with the best interests of our students at the forefront of everything we do.
Thomond Community College is a new school that represents an exciting time for education and the community in Limerick and Clare. In September 2016, Thomond Community College was established under the trusteeship of the Limerick and Clare Education & Training Board. Thomond Community College is a multi-denominational, co-educational school and is an amalgamation of the Salesian Secondary School, established in 1955 and St. Nessan’s Community College, established in 1978.
In Thomond Community College we encourage everybody in the school community to strive to be the best version of themselves. We are passionate about developing the potential of every individual student in our care as well as that of the whole school community in an inclusive learning and emotional environment that celebrates diversity and achievement. Thomond Community College is very mindful of the ever-changing society we live in, and evolving skills needed for the growing industries and careers both in Ireland and on a global level. We work closely with our partners in the local 3rd level institutions and in our local national and international businesses to ensure our curriculum is designed to best meet the emerging needs of the future.
An inclusive atmosphere of friendliness, joy and celebration is characteristic of the educational approach of the college which enables students to be respectful of diverse cultures and beliefs.
